EXPORTERS SET TO START SHRIMP SHIPMENTS TO BRAZIL
Peru is preparing for its shrimp companies to start exporting to Brazil, after shrimp exporters from Tumbes and Piura were visited by officials from Brazil and Peru, Promperú reported.
The meeting was part of the boost to exports of this emblematic product from the Tumbes region to the neighboring country, promoting and accompanying the access of exporting companies.
Inspectors of the Department of Inspection of Products of Animal Origin (DIPOA) in Brazil learned about the facilities of our exporting companies, the promotional agency reported.
The Tumbes region concentrates 93% of the national shrimp production and exports 59% of the national total, which in 2018 was USD 222 million.
Currently, the main markets for frozen shrimp tails are the US, Spain and Canada, while for whole shrimp are Vietnam, Canada, Spain, South Korea and France. In 2017, progress was made in the access requirements for Peruvian shrimp to Brazil.
